Dear Walnut Hill Families and Friends:

Hello, my name is George Burns; this is my 10th year as the Physical Education Teacher at Walnut Hill and 12th year with the Omaha Public Schools. I was born and raised here in Omaha. I received my bachelor's degree from Wayne State College in 2008 and my master's degree from Lamar University in 2015. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child during the 2020-21 school year!

My role as a Physical Education Teacher is to involve the learner in a wide range of movement, knowledge, and skill building experiences; contribute to the learner's growing value system and his/her development of responsible attitudes and behaviors to promote a healthy lifestyle. Promote understanding and appreciation of differences among people in a physical activity setting; and to develop the habits of choosing to regular participate in physical activity as part of health/wellness.

Each class has PE once a week for 50 minutes. Students are expected to participate in class and to be safe, respectful, responsible, and to do their very best! As a physical educator, my obligation to our students at Walnut Hill is to create a safe, caring learning environment in a physically active setting.

No Excuses University

Each classroom at Walnut Hill has adopted a college or university, as a way to encourage our students to be college and career bound. Our adopted college is the University of Florida. For more information about the University of Florida,  please visit the following link: University of Florida
