Mrs. Britton

welcome back

Welcome Mrs. Britton's First Grade Class! I have been teaching at Walnut Hill since 2006.  I love teaching 1st grade and I am very excited for the upcoming year. I am a graduate of UNO with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Early childhood.

Each classroom at Walnut Hill adopted a college or university as a way to encourage our students to be college and career bound. Our classroom is lucky have Concordia in Nebraska.  Our mascot is a Bulldogs.

I was born and raised in Omaha. I went to Hartman Elementary, Nathan Hale Jr. High and North High School. I want to help all my students reach their highest potential. I believe that learning never stops. Not only am I teaching your wonderful kids, they are teaching me at the same time.

I got married in the summer of 2012 to my wonderful husband, Nick. We have to wonderful children, Lilyana and Maverick. Lilyana was born in 2016 and Maverick was born in 2020. As a family we love to have game nights, cook outs on the patio and movie nights.

Mrs. Britton's Take home reading program

I have a 'Take Home Reading program' that the students should been done daily. The students  will choice 1 book of their choice and 1 book at their reading level. They will then take the books home and read it to family member, that family member will sign the take home log sheet to get credit for reading each book. . The students will bring back the signed log sheet and get 2 new books. After each student reads 30 books, they will get a book of their own to keep and a bag of candy or popcorn.
