Hello, my name is Mr. Burns; this is my 9th year teaching Physical Education at Walnut Hill and 11th year with the Omaha Public Schools. I was born and raised right here in Omaha. I received my bachelor's degree from Wayne State College in 2008 and my master's degree from Lamar University in 2015. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child during the 2019-20 school year!
My role as a Physical Education Teacher is to teach your child how to live a healthy and physically active lifestyle. Students are expected to wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing to PE each time we have class. Each class has PE once a week for 50 minutes. Students are also expected to participate in class and to give their very best effort; as well as meeting our No Excuses University college bound expectations. As a physical educator, my obligation to our students at Walnut Hill is to create a positive learning environment in a physically active setting.
In addition to Physical Education at Walnut Hill; we offer an after-school Play Days sports program for our 5th and 6th grade students, which is free of charge. The following sports are offered throughout the school year: Soccer, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Volleyball, and Flag Football.
